Wacom implemented the following additional changes and improvements:

. This driver fully supports Windows 7, and has passed the Microsoft WHQL certification process for Windows 7.

. The "Wacom Tablet Preferences File Utility" now contains an option to back up your preferences and to restore the backed up preferences at a later time.
--To back up your preferences, go to Start – (All) Programs – Wacom Tablet – Wacom Tablet Preferences File Utility. After the utility launched, select "Back-up", choose the name and location of the backup file, and click OK.
--To restore your previously saved preferences, go to Start – (All) Programs – Wacom Tablet – Wacom Tablet Preferences File Utility. After the utility launched, select "Restore", browse to the location of your backup file and select it, and click on OK.

. Some issues with handling keystroke commands were resolved.

. A number of smaller bug fixes and improvements were implemented.

==Pen input features in Windows 7 and Vista==

. On Windows 7 and Vista, installation of the driver will activate the pen input functions available within Windows and Office 2007 (see http://www.wacom-asia.com/aptky/Vista/vistapenexperience.pdf for details).

. The Windows 7 and Vista Flicks and Press-and-hold-to-right-click features are disabled in most graphics applications (all that use the Wintab API). This is a workaround to improve drawing performance in these applications when those features are on.

 [Attention]
IMPORTANT:

. USB tablet required.

. Support for serial tablets is being phased out. Serial tablet support remains in this driver, however, no testing has been done. No further driver revisions will be done to correct serial tablet issues. The recommended driver for serial tablets on Vista 32 bit, XP 32 bit and 2000 is version 6.05-7. ArtZ ArtZ2 Artpad (UD or KT) tablets are not supported in Vista and require driver version 4.78 for XP32 bit and 2000. Connection via a serial to USB adapters is not supported as connectivity is dependent on the adapters ability to correctly identify serial ports.

. Support for Windows 2000 is being phased out. Windows 2000 support remains in this driver, however, no testing has been done. No further driver revisions will occur for issues specific to Windows 2000. Support is not provided for Windows 2000 using driver 6.08-4a and greater. Driver version 6.05-7 is recommended for Windows 2000.

General notes

. This driver supports only the professional tablets listed above. For concurrent use of a consumer Wacom tablet, you need to install a separate Pen Tablet driver v 5.05 or later. It is good practice to check the driver release dates and install the older driver first, followed by the newer one. These two drivers can be added or removed independently of each other.

. For users with Wacom tablet drivers older than v.5.05: For best results, uninstall any Wacom tablet drivers older than v.5.05, restart and temporarily disable your antivirus software and Windows Defender (Vista & newer). Then install this new driver. After installation has been successfully completed, re-enable your antivirus software and Windows Defender.
(To disable or enable Windows Defender, go to Start – All Programs – Windows Defender.
Then select Tools – Options. Under Administrator options [at the very bottom], select or clear the Use Windows Defender check box, and then click Save. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.)

. To uninstall a driver, go to Start - Control Panels and select "Programs and Features" (Vista & newer) or "Add or Remove Programs" (XP). Find the entry for the Wacom Tablet driver in the list of applications, and then select the Uninstall button located at the top of the application list. Restart your computer before installing a new driver.

. To remove the preferences file and restore all default settings, open Start – All Programs – Wacom Tablet – Tablet Preference File Utility. Then select to remove the preferences file(s). You must authenticate yourself as an administrator to be able to remove all users preferences.
